One life spared...
For every single life we save,
Another crawls to his grave.
Our hearts bleed and often break,
To see the price of ones mistake.
Never we say, in our minds..
And yet it happens all the time.
This cruel fate at which we play,
Another life, another day..
Tossed without feeling or remorse,
Dumb dog this or useless horse.
If they are lucky it's to a pound,
where a needle gently puts them down.
But for most is a harder fate,
Dumped on a road or tied to a stake.
Never to know the meaning of love,
Until they meet the Creator above.
No warm houses in which to live,
No caring owner with love to give.
Until heaven shows them how,
And returns the love they'd give you now.
If they only had a chance to show,
They aren't useless or too slow.
So take and chance and you will see,
How trully thankful they can be.
For a bit of kindness spared,
One less life was lost out there.
