My dog is a huge chewer. A mixed min-pin beagle or so the vet thinks (he’s a rescue). He is now about 4 1/2 years old and I’ve notice a small amount of blood on his chew toys & sometimes on his treat bones. He doesn’t seem to be in any pain. But blood makes me worried. I’ve had him checked out at the vet & they say it looks like ‘rubbing’ is causing the gums to bleed, but he had healthy gums and i shouldn’t worry about it.

Well, I do. Does anyone else have this issue? What have you done?

I use a basic dog tooth paste and use a rubber finger “brush” (has short numb like bristles) to brush his teeth once a week. I’ve been gentle massaging his gums (they do not bleed then) to strengthen them. I’ve also tried a medicated dog tooth paste, but he through up.
