I have a half-moon betta, and I had him in a tank with three neon tetras and an algae eater. They were getting along fine until around two days ago we saw the algae eater chasing Rothbart around, but it didn’t ever look like they were touching or fighting. When I got home today, his top fin was torn really badly. It’s only the top one, but it looks like it was almost pulled off. When I removed him from the tank to he jumped out of the bowl and onto the carpet and now he’s lost color on his bottom fin in stripes.
Is there anything I can do to improve his survival?
    Or is he just doomed?
He’s swimming around erratically and every once in awhile he just stops. Don’t know if that means anything or not.
I’m hopefully gonna move him into a tank of his own by tomorrow morning (after I go buy it.)

    So…
does he have any chance of living after this?
